The Witney Liberal Democrats have set up a petition to keep Dean Pit Open and have a date for presentation of the petition to the Oxfordshire County Council Planning and Regulation Committee meeting. If you haven't yet signed and would like to, you can do so online by going to www.witney-libdems.org.uk/en/petition/keep-dean-pit-open, where you can also download a petition form for collecting more signatures.
Deadline for comments is 4 April - have your say online about OCC's future plans in this public consultation. Due to budget cuts they have dropped the plan to replace Dean Pit with another local site when it closes in September.

The scheme costs £51 per bin for 17 months. This fee includes one wheeled bin and collections from outside your home every two weeks, making it easier and less time-consuming for you to dispose of your garden waste in an environmentally-friendly manner. Collections will take place from 11 May 2009 until 24 September 2010. All garden waste is taken to a local commercial composting facility.

In June 2008, CAWAG launched Charlbury Sharecroppers to help put people in touch with each other so that locally grown food does not go to waste and so that as many local people as possible can be involved with growing, picking and eating fresh, healthy food.

The first Saturday morning of each month, CAWAG have a collection bag for Tetra Paks alongside the recycling bins at the same time as the green waste collection at the Spendlove car park from 10am-12 noon.
Take your household batteries (including dead rechargeable batteries) to any of the special battery collection boxes now available at the Post Office, the Corner House, and the Primary School.

Saturday: Bring & Take at Memorial Hall (& Bike Repair)
Do you have any unwanted items in your home?
Don't throw them out into landfill or hoard them in your garage. The Bring & Take is a cashless event where anyone can take items they want at NO cost. Items that are left over from the event are sorted and given to the Blue Cross animal charity for its shops or recycled where possible (last possible choice). Items can be brought in between 9.30am and 11am and taken between 10am and 12 noon.
Also bring along old bikes and anyone wanting one can take it up for repair to the Spendlove where the cycle repair company Back On Trax will be that morning.
Usable paint can also be brought along and any left over will be taken this to Oxford Community Repaint who will put it to good use. The paint needs to be in its original container, with no leaks and a secure lid. Emulsion paint needs to have more than a litre left in the tin. Gloss or eggshell paint tins need to be more than half full.
Bring along your lightbulbs for safe disposal. Also bring along unwanted spectacles which we will take to Boots for reuse by Vision Aid.
Large items can be advertised on the notice board at the "Bring and Take", please do not bring large items as we only have limited transport and storage available to us if the items are not taken.

- Hygiene products that have been used
- Very heavy items
